A Teesside charity that helps support disadvantaged kids through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is in the running to win a £5000 prize, courtesy of Middlesbrough & Teesside Philanthropic Foundation.

Bristol, UK. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) students from all over the country will gather together on the 15th April to grapple and spar with each other non-stop over a 24 hour period. The Bristol GrappleThon is now in its sixth consecutive year of running. It has also become a powerful platform for raising funds that support important local charities.

On 30 November, members of the British Army Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Team sparred for 1000 rounds in 24 hours to raise money for PTSD The British Army BJJ team started their marathon effort in Farnborough, Colchester and Catterick. The event was to raise money for Combat Stress – a military charity that supports service personnel and their families.

At a gym in Bristol a group of grapplers spent 24 hours of their Easter weekend on the mats doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the name of charity. Artemis BJJ, a member club of the UKBJJA, hosted a GrappleThon and raised £3000 for local charity One25, which supports vulnerable women, helping them to break free and build new lives away from violence, poverty and addiction.

One of the UKBJJA's member clubs, Bristol-based Artemis BJJ, will be hosting a great event on March 26 and March 27 to support charity, using BJJ to help the community. Artemis are holding a 24 hour GrappleThon to raise funds for a great organisation, One25, who support vulnerable women. Individuals will be coming from around the country to take part in this project and grapple the night away.
