Announcement: Junior Competitions 2017

This year, the UKBJJA National Rankings in 2017 will be based on results from the following competitions:

  • The Bristol Open (x1) 20 Feb
  • UK BJJ Junior National Championships (x2) 6 March
  • The Bournemouth Open (x1) 11 June
  • The British Open (x4) 15-16 May
  • The English Open Juniors (x4) 16 October
  • Celtic Open (x1) October date TBA
  • The Nottingham Open (x1) 27 November

(x1 = standard ranking points, x2 = double ranking points, x4 = quadruple ranking points)

The UKBJJA Regional Rankings in 2017 will be collated by each individual UKBJJA League Organiser based on results at their competitions. At the end of the year these results will be made available in a full UKBJJA press release.

The current regional leagues are:

  • Southern (Surrey)
  • Wales
  • Eastern (Essex)
  • North Eastern (Newcastle)
  • TBA Northern (Liverpool)

We hope that the above changes reflect the huge growth in Junior BJJ and will motivate children who are at National level to follow the UKBJJA National tournament schedule to secure their positions in the National Rankings, while meeting their peers in their divisions regularly for competitive matches.

The UKBJJA will continue to support and nurture the grass roots of our Juniors development with the Regional Leagues, giving confidence to those new to the sport with theses series of smaller competitions. Juniors regional results will be recognised in the end of year Regional rankings.

*Please note entry to the UKBJJA Regional Leagues requires UKBJJA membership, to offer the organsers and parents the full protection of the UKBJJA insurance scheme.

All the best,

Kat Hill
