This free event brought nearly 100 young athletes from across the UK together to train and learn from black belt coaches, including Wales’s first female world champion, Ffion Davies.

Ffion Eira Davies from Swansea has made it a double world championship year by winning the World IBJJF No Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) Championship on December 16, 2018 in Anaheim, California. She becomes the first adult Black Belt No Gi World Champion.

British women athletes have brought home a stunning haul of six medals, including three golds from the World IBJJF Jiu Jitsu Championship. The World IBJJF Jiu Jitsu Championship is the largest and most prestigious Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) competition in the world, attracting nearly 4,000 competitors from around the globe. An athlete from Swansea has become the first ever Welsh competitor to win a world championship in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). Ffion Eira Davies, who trains at CF24 Jiu Jitsu in Cardiff, flew out to Long Beach, California last weekend to compete in the World IBJJF Jiu Jitsu Championship, the largest and most prestigious BJJ competition in the world. It was held from 31 May to 3 June, 2018.

A Southampton man has just been awarded a coveted black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu despite a spinal condition that could have left him crippled. On 4 December, 2016 Graham Day (44) from Southampton was awarded his black belt in the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), despite a debilitating degenerative spinal condition that could have left him in a wheelchair.
