The UKBJJA is sponsoring six promising athletes to take on some of the best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitors in the world at the European IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Lisbon, Portugal this January. The six were chosen from the number one ranked British athletes in 2017 and are sure to bring home medals from what has become the largest Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament outside America.

A Southampton man has just been awarded a coveted black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu despite a spinal condition that could have left him crippled. On 4 December, 2016 Graham Day (44) from Southampton was awarded his black belt in the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), despite a debilitating degenerative spinal condition that could have left him in a wheelchair.

On 30 November, members of the British Army Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Team sparred for 1000 rounds in 24 hours to raise money for PTSD The British Army BJJ team started their marathon effort in Farnborough, Colchester and Catterick. BJJ is the newest official addition to the roster of martial arts in the British military.
